Government Web filtering pilot

Netforce has been chosen to take part in the Federal Government’s Internet Service Provider Content Filtering Pilot for the purposes of technical testing.

This is an opt in only trial. Taking part in this trial is entirely optional and will be offered to our current ethernet, fibre, and wireless customers at no cost. By default, connections are not filtered and networks will not be affected.

Many customers wish to know why Netforce is participating in the trial. Web filtering is a tool which many of our business customers choose to implement to support their chosen acceptable use policies. Our objective is to ensure that internet filtering technology does not impede the internet experience of our business customers.

We believe it is an opportunity to help protect your business Internet link, increase user productivity, preserve network resources and reduce liability.

The most common problem that we have seen with web content filtering is delays and poor performance. Our chosen solution is a dedicated network appliance that manages end user access to Internet-based content and is based on cutting edge “pass-by” filtering.

Our solution enables filtering to happen as fast as a URL request can get out to the Internet. Independent test results should prove the efficiency of the technology.

Customers wishing to participate can email their Account Manager before the end of April 2009. Confidentiality and privacy will be maintained.

Benefits of the Solution

  1. A Fast Internet: the appliance runs in “pass-by” (or transparent mode),sitting outside the flow of network traffic so there is no impact on network performance.
  2. A Safe Internet - Blocks Internet threats like spyware, malicious code, phishing sites and botnets (IRC, command-and-control).
  3. Increased Productivity: If it is your company policy to do so, you can block Facebook and Instant Messaging servers by signature or pattern.

The ISP Internet Content Filtering Pilot is an Australian Government initiative.
